Addiction recovery is a very personal journey, and as a therapist, it is vital to assess treatment options based on individual patient need. While some will thrive in an outpatient setting, others require a more extensive healing environment, such as a residential treatment facility.
IITAP supports various residential and outpatient treatment programs throughout the United States. Please note that prior to patient enrollment, most residential facilities require a screening test.
Residential Treatment
Gentle Path, A Pine Grove Program, Hattiesburg, Mississippi
The Gentle Path Program is designed for individuals who require more extensive treatment then can be provided by an outpatient facility or certified practitioner. With the guidance of Dr. Patrick Carnes, those suffering from sexually compulsive behaviors are shown how to regain their freedom from addiction and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.
The Gentle Path treatment program is made up of two components:
Gentle Path employs a system that pairs intensity of care with an individual's treatment needs. During this evaluation phase, patients are put through a series of tests in a structured setting. Assessments include psychological testing, psychiatric evaluation, physical examination, chemical dependency testing, and biopsychosocial and psychosexual assessments. This phase of treatment typically lasts 24–72 hours. The patient is then discharged to the first phase of treatment.
This entails a six-week intensive program incorporating individual and group therapy, and extensive psychoeducation. Daily treatments run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with additional activities and events scheduled for evenings and weekends. This program offers specialty groups and services designed to meet the needs of this population. All Gentle Path staff are either Masters- or Doctoral-level trained clinicians with specialized training working with sexual issues.
