Candidates listed in theTherapist Locator are distinguished by a (1), (2), (3) or (4) to indicate how many training modules (of four) they've completed. They are working with a CSAT Supervisor.

A Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) is a therapist that has a minimum of a Masters-level degree in psychology or a related field, is fully licensed or certified (depending on country/state) and has at least 5 years of experience in the mental health field. These individuals have completed 120 hours of in-person classroom work (in 4 stages of 1-week increments) and 30 hours of clinical supervision by a CSAT-S.
A Certified Sex Addiction Therapist – Supervisor (CSAT-S) is a therapist that has a minimum of a Masters-level degree in psychology or a related field, is fully licensed or certified (depending on country/state), has at least 5 years of experience in the mental health field, has a minimum of 2 years of experience working as a CSAT, and has a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in another area. Individuals holding this designation have undergone additional training and are qualified to supervise CSAT candidates.
An ASAT has completed the same work a CSAT does (completed 120 hours of in-person classroom work (in 4 stages of 1-week increments) and 30 hours of clinical supervision by a CSAT-S) but does not meet the full CSAT criteria at time of completion. For example, an intern who has completed his/her Masters degree and is working on their state licensure.
A Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist (CMAT) is a therapist that has a minimum of a Masters-level degree in psychology or a related field, is fully licensed or certified (depending on country/state) and has at least 5 years of experience in the mental health field. These individuals have completed the CSAT training (120 hours of in-person classroom work (in 4 stages of 1-week increments) and 30 hours of clinical supervision by a CSAT-S) and in addition, has complete a minimum of another 30 hours of in-person classroom work on the assessment and treatment of other addictions, such as chemical dependency.
An AMAT has completed the same work a CMAT does (completed 120 hours of in-person classroom work (in 4 stages of 1-week increments) and 30 hours of clinical supervision in the CSAT program, plus complete a minimum of another 30 hours of in-person classroom work on the assessment and treatment of other addictions, such as chemical dependency) but does not meet the full CMAT criteria at time of completion.
