Module Prep Work & Upcoming Training Opportunities

IITAP’s premier 4-module, CSAT-certification program empowers and educates addiction therapists to take their practice to the next level. Candidates are required to complete a set of assignments for each module, which are detailed below.

Each Module training offers 30 hours of continuing education credit. For a list of approved CE providers, please click here.

MODULE 1

Module Description

Module 1 focuses on the identification and treatment of sex addiction. Facilitated by Dr. Patrick Carnes and Dr. Kenneth Adams, participants will be introduced to the 30 task treatment model (while focusing primarily on the first seven tasks), incorporating the Recovery Start Kit and task-oriented workbooks into both in- and outpatient practices, the Sex Addiction Screening Test, the Sexual Dependency Inventory, and treatment planning for the addict

MODULE 2

Module Description

Module 2 focuses on the partner and family and is facilitated by Dr. Stefanie Carnes and Dr. Kevin Skinner. Participants will learn to incorporate the Facing Heartbreak task book (which is the first seven tasks for the partner) into their practices and administer and interpret the Partner Sexuality Survey and Inventory for Partner Attachment, Stress, and Trauma. The Family Zone tasks (tasks 19-30) are also addressed in this training. There are a number of unique and creative experiential exercises that will enhance the professional’s practice not only when working with Partners, but with anyone experiencing relational trauma.

MODULE 3

Module Description

Module 3 is facilitated by Debra Kaplan and Alexandra Katehakis and focuses on the Recovery Zone material – which includes the internal and external tasks (tasks 13-19). This is a comprehensive look at the work necessary for clients to move forward when they have begun and maintained recovery. The work is primarily focused on trauma and has been transformative for many of the participants.

MODULE 4

Module Description

Module 4 brings the entire training process full circle by bringing together all the participants’ knowledge together and incorporating it into a mock case study where both the addict, partner, coupleship and family needs are addressed. Treatment planning is extensively discussed for the clients and participants
